In this session, we will look at a wide variety of hands-on activities that could be used to help students better visualize and understand calculus. Many of these activities use fun props, like feather boas, toys, food, and craft items. We will discuss how to use these kinds of activities in your class, how these activities benefit students, and how to modify or develop new activities for your teaching needs. We will physically do most of these activities throughout the session as well.

This session will give an introduction to alternative grading methods. The basics of two alternative grading structures and some of their variations will be detailed, and examples from courses taught under these parameters will be shown. Participants will have the opportunity to think through the structures and discuss how they might apply them to courses they teach.
