Workshop to welcome, orient, and connect students and early career researchers to the SumTopo research community.
Are you attending SUMTOPO for the first time? This workshop is designed to welcome you to the community and to help you get the most out of the conference. We’ll begin with a brief overview of the history and structure of SUMTOPO and then you’ll have the opportunity to meet with representatives from the various parallel sessions.
We’ll also offer practical advice for making the most of your time: how to choose sessions, approach speakers, join informal discussions, and build professional connections. In addition, we’ll share tips for giving a clear and engaging mathematics talk at a research conference—whether you’re presenting this year or preparing for a future conference.
If you are a graduate student, postdoc, or an early-career mathematician, this session will give you the context, strategies, and confidence to engage fully in our community.
