The purpose of this funding initiative is to support undergraduate student travel up to $250 to the MAA-SE meeting at High Point University. Faculty (on behalf of a student) or students may apply.
If you have any questions after reading the information below, please contact Thomas Fitzkee.
The grant will fund expenses that are specific and essential to conference travel. Itemized and justified expenses are necessary to be considered for funding. Expenses may include conference registration fees, lodging, and travel by vehicle or airline. Please make every effort to reduce and share expenses, such as requesting funds from your institution, riding together, and sharing lodging. The grant does not cover costs for food.
Hand-written applications will not be accepted. Each application must have a recommendation from a faculty member in order to be considered. In the case of faculty applicant, the same faculty member can complete the faculty recommendation section.
It is intended that only one application per institution will be funded. Consideration will be given to students who submitted an abstract for a presentation, students registered on a Math Jeopardy team, first time student attendees, and number of students traveling with applicant. Applicants will be informed of their award status at least two weeks (Feb 15) before the start of the meeting. Successful applicants should pick up their check at the MAA-SE meeting registration table.
The online application form and faculty recommendation, must be submitted at least three weeks before the start of the meeting (Feb 8).
